A convoy carrying the Governor of Hiiraan region has arrived safely in Buulebarde town.
The convoy carrying Governor Ali Jeyte traveled from Beledweyne, the administrative capital of the regional state of HirShabelle to Buulebarde on Tuesday.
It covered a distance of 132km.
According to multiple sources, this would never have been possible a few months ago as Al-Shabaab militants were in complete control of that part of the country.
Al-Shabaab militants also controlled the entire route.
Governor Jeyte has been joining the Somali National Army (SNA) in carrying out military operations in the region to rid it of the presence of terrorists.
