COVID-19 Cases Pass the 500-Mark in Somalia

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health announced that COVID-19 cases have passed the 500-mark in Somalia, thus making the country the epicenter of the virulent disease in the Horn of Africa.

With this news, Somalia now becomes the East African country with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

It is worth mentioning that the country had no confirmed case at the beginning of March 2020 when its neighbors in the region had already reported their first cases.

Dr. Fawziya Abikar, while delivering her daily updates on COVID-19, said the country had reported 48 new cases.

Consequently, the national tally has now reached 528.
