COVID-19 Deaths Rise to 32 in Somalia

The Ministry of Health announced that the number of COVID-19 deaths has risen to 32 as nine more patients died.

While making the announcement, Dr. Fawziya Abikar, the Minister of Health, confirmed that most of the deaths are in Mogadishu.

Further, the ministry clarified that private hospitals in Mogadishu referred to Martini Hospital too late when they were in poor condition.

Similarly, the ministry announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases had now risen to 436 after 46 more individuals tested positive to the virulent disease in the last 24 hours.

The Federal Government of Somalia has put several measures in place to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

COVID-19 has stretched Somalia’s fragile health system and economy to the verge of complete destruction just as the country struggles to emerge from decades of internal conflicts.
