The COVID-19 pandemic has now claimed over 1,000 people in Somalia since the first case was confirmed in March 2020.
On September 5, the Ministry of Health confirmed that five people had succumbed to the disease thus pushing the death toll to 1,002.
Similarly, the health ministry stated that 106 new COVID-19 cases had been reported from 1,509 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Somaliland led the latest updates with 44 cases. Puntland came in second with 30 followed by Banadir with 17.
Galmudug and Jubaland had three and one cases respectively.
With the new cases confirmed, the tally of people diagnosed with the disease has now reached 17,832.
Moreover, the health ministry indicated that 72 people had recovered from the disease thus taking the number of recoveries to 8,735.
