COVID-19 Spraying Exercise Carried Out in Benadir

A COVID-19 disinfection exercise has been launched in Benadir region.

Authorities indicated that the exercise has been necessitated by the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the region.

Thus far, 231 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Somalia, with a majority of them reported in Benadir region.

The spraying exercise is part of the measures put in place to keep the region’s markets and streets hygienic and clean for all.

Regional authorities used a truck tanker fitted with spraying machines to disinfect the streets and markets.

The Mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Filish, promised to continue with the exercise in the city until COVID-19 is eliminated.

Mayor Filish also said, “The cleaning and spraying exercise is set to continue in several villages in Mogadishu too. We will also extend it to cover all places where the public gathers.”

Filish reaffirmed the fact that Mogadishu is like all other cities in the world, which are carrying out similar exercises to curb the spread of COVID-19 among the population.
