The COVID-19 vaccination exercise has kicked off in the semiautonomous regional state of Puntland, Somalia.
The exercise kicked off almost a week since Puntland received its share of COVID-19 vaccines that COVAX donated to Somalia.
Earlier this month, Somalia received the first batch of 300,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.
The East African nation is in line to receive over 1.2 million doses of the vaccine.
As the exercise kicked off in Puntland, local health authorities announced that the first phase targets frontline workers and the elderly.
