A two-day curfew has been imposed in Mogadishu ahead of the upcoming presidential elections in Somalia.
The East African nation plans to hold presidential elections on Sunday, May 15.
Legislators from the House of the People (Lower House) and Senate (Upper House) get the opportunity to vote for the country’s next President.
The Somali Police Force (SPF) statement shows that the curfew takes effect from 9pm on Saturday, May 14.
Police expect the curfew to remain in place until Monday, May 16 at 6am.
Consequently, members of the public are advised to stay at home and cease any kind of movement for the duration of the curfew.
The curfew is designed to keep the city as secure as possible to enable the elections to proceed uninterruptedly.
