The Dahabshiil Group has boosted the fight against COVID-19 in Somaliland with a donation of $800,000.
The National Taskforce on COVID-19 in Somaliland received the donation on Sunday.
Abdirahman Ali Abdi, the Deputy CEO of Dahabshiil Group, handed the donation on behalf of the company.
Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail Sayli’i, the Deputy President of Somaliland, was present to receive the donation on behalf of the government.
Abdi said, “Dahabshiil has the pleasure of donating $600,000 in medical aid to help the country to mount a successful fight against COVID-19.”
Furthermore, the company announced a donation of lab equipment to boost the capacity of health officials to conduct tests locally.
Part of the equipment donated comprised oxygen concentrators, ventilator devices, generators, and three state-of-the-art ambulances.
Additionally, Dahabshiil also donated $200,000 in cash to be shared among 4,000 needy households around the country.
