Details have emerged showing that the United States military will continue training members of the Danab Brigade until 2027.
Consequently, the extended training could lead to delayed withdrawal of foreign forces from Somalia.
The training seeks to equip Somalis with the skills needed to run a functional army sustainably. Somalia has been without a functioning government or army since Siad Barre’s ouster.
News regarding the prolonged training comes just when AMISOM reiterated that it plans to withdraw its troops from the country by 2021.
