Danab Commandos Dismantle Militant Hideouts in Lower Shabelle Operation

Lower Shabelle, Somalia – The 161st Unit of the Danab Commandos, in collaboration with the Armored Vehicle Unit (MU), carried out a series of coordinated security operations across the Lower Shabelle region today. The combined forces focused on key locations including Basro, Baqdaad, Janbaluul, and multiple adjacent villages in the Afgooye District to eliminate active terrorist cells.

The mission began in Basro, where elite forces discovered an elaborate system of tunnels and hidden bunkers serving as shelters for Khawarij militants. After the insurgents abandoned the positions under mounting pressure and faced with the advanced tactical skills of the Danab troops, the special forces successfully identified and rendered these hideouts unusable.

After securing Basro, the forces proceeded to Baqdaad, an area previously functioning as a key stronghold for the terrorist organization. Military authorities have now completely taken control of the region, safeguarding local residents and reestablishing peace throughout the district.

The operation was extended to Janbaluul, where Danab personnel performed comprehensive search operations to locate remaining elements of the terrorist unit seeking concealment in the thick vegetation. The main goal of this campaign is to obliterate militant safe havens, completely restrict their mobility in the area, and ensure enduring protection for Lower Shabelle inhabitants.

This successful mission demonstrates the courage and exceptional expertise of the Danab Commandos, reinforcing their dedication to protecting the Somali population and removing the threat of terrorism from the country.
