Danab Special Forces have arrested a senior official with the Al-Shabaab militia group during a military operation carried out in Lower Shabelle.
Security sources confirmed to the media that the US-trained Danab soldiers carried out a successful military operation in Wallaweyn, Lower Shabelle.
The operation was organized specifically to arrest the senior extremist.
Danab Special Forces and intelligence officers had monitored Mohamud Mohamed Ali’s movements for some time before finally tracking and arresting him.
Military sources said that they had hunted Ali for a while.
He is suspected of being the mastermind behind several deadly attacks carried out in different parts of the country.
