DANAB Special Forces killed 11 Al-Shabaab militants near Kismayo on June 3.
Reports from the region indicate that DANAB soldiers encountered the militants during a military operation.
Clashes ensued between soldiers from the Special Forces and the militants.
Eleven militants then lost their lives in the clashes, which took place in Yaq-Halul on Friday.
The village is 55km outside Kismayo.
Nevertheless, there has been no independent confirmation of the casualties involved in the incident.
Commander Arab Dheeg Ahmed led the DANAB soldiers in the operation.
According to him, government soldiers recovered several weapons from the militants. These included two AK47s as well as a PKM machine gun.
