Lower Jubbaland, Somalia — Somali National Army’s elite Danab forces, supported by international partners, successfully conducted precision airstrikes on Al-Shabaab positions in Maqooqaha, approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Kismayo in Lower Jubba region.
The operation targeted a key command centre used by the extremist group for planning terrorist attacks across southern Somalia. According to military officials, at least 25 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in the strikes, and the facility sustained significant structural damage, rendering it inoperable.
A Somali security spokesperson confirmed that the raid was the product of extensive intelligence gathering and careful coordination between the Somali National Army and its international allies. The action underscores the ongoing commitment to degrade the capabilities of Al-Shabaab and enhance security across the region.
The Somali National Army praised its Danab forces for their professionalism and resilience, reiterating that such operations will continue until the extremist group is neutralized.
No civilian casualties were reported, and authorities assured local communities of their continued commitment to protecting civilians as Somalia advances its counterterrorism efforts.
