Data Protection Authority Launched in Somalia

A new Data Protection Agency has been launched in Somalia.

The East African nation announced the launch of the new agency on Saturday.

Jama Hassan Khalif, the Minister of Communication and Technology, was at the event held in Mogadishu to launch the agency.

Representatives from the civil society and the government attended the launching ceremony.

Fardowsa Osman Egal, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, attended the ceremony too.

She assured Khalif that her ministry would work closely with the new agency.

She called on other ministries to collaborate with the agency in protecting the rights and privacy of individuals in the country.
