The Minister of Defense and the Somali National Army (SNA) chief held discussions with the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Somalia.
The meeting between Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, SNA Chief Brig. Gen. Odawaa Yusuf Rageh, and Ambassador Tiina Intelmann took place on June 18.
Their discussions were quite varied.
However, they mostly centered on the security situation in the East African nation, especially following the conclusion of the recent parliamentary and presidential elections.
They also discussed Somalia’s capacity and plans to take over security from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
ATMIS has been in charge of all security-related issues in Somalia for years.
It recently took over from AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
