Fiqi Inspects SNAF Support Command, Commends Troops’ Dedication

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, paid an official visit to the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) Support Command at Villa Baydhabo to evaluate ongoing operations and logistical coordination for troops deployed on the frontlines.

During the visit, Fiqi received detailed briefings from senior military officers on current supply chains, troop readiness, and operational challenges in active combat zones. He underscored the importance of efficient logistics and coordination in sustaining the national army’s momentum against al-Shabab militants across several fronts.

The minister commended the officers and personnel of the Support Command for their professionalism, discipline, and resilience under demanding conditions.

“Your dedication is the backbone of our armed forces’ success,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving soldiers’ welfare, equipment, and operational capacity.

Fiqi also extended his gratitude to Somalia’s international partners for their continuous support in strengthening the SNAF through training, logistics, and technical assistance. He emphasized that such partnerships have been critical in enabling the Somali military to take greater responsibility for national security as the country moves toward full security transition.

The visit comes as the Ministry of Defense continues to prioritize modernization, accountability, and effectiveness within the armed forces, aiming to build a self-reliant military capable of securing and defending Somalia’s sovereignty.
