Somalia’s Ministry of Defense held training session for Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers on December 12.
The training was specifically for members of the SNA’s Child Protection Unit.
The army has a unit that’s responsible for protecting children.
It’s common for Al-Shabaab and ISIS militants in the East African nation to use children to shield themselves from attacks by government troops.
Criminals also attack children frequently.
Hassan M. Said Samantar, the Director General at the Ministry of Defense, opened the training on Sunday.
