Deni Appoints Advisory Committee on Inflation

President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland has appointed an Advisory Committee to look into the inflation that threatens to spiral out of control.

Deni appointed the committee on January 10 after a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Garowe, which is the administrative capital of the regional state.

The President had invited several past and present leaders of Puntland to the meeting to solutions for the falling Somali Shilling (SOS).

Abdirahman Farole, a former President of Puntland, has been appointed the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Somali Shilling.

Deni announced that his administration – including the committee formed on Sunday, remains committed to finding lasting solutions to the inflation.

Towards the end of last year, Puntland residents took to the streets to protest the dire economic situation in the region.
