Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni has expressed his readiness for a peaceful and non-military solution to the deadly clashes in Bosaso.
The Bosaso clashes broke out on December 21.
Since then, more than 20 people have lost their lives. Dozens more have been injured.
On Thursday, authorities in the region called for a ceasefire to quell the clashes. However, this never stopped hundreds of residents from fleeing the town.
On Friday, President Deni called for a peaceful solution to these clashes.
He also called for the reopening of the Bosaso Port and resumption of government services while urging civilians to return to their homes.
The clashes pit regional forces against the Puntland Security Force (PSF).
