Bosaso, Somalia – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni on Thursday hosted a high-level delegation from the United Kingdom led by British Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King, for wide-ranging discussions on political, security, and development priorities.
The meeting, held at the Puntland State House in Bosaso, focused on strengthening cooperation between the Puntland administration and the United Kingdom in advancing peace, governance, and economic growth in the region. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to Somalia’s stability and ongoing federal reforms.
According to an official statement, the talks also addressed Puntland’s sustained military operations against ISIS-affiliated militants in the Al-Miskaad Mountains. President Deni briefed Ambassador King on the progress of counterterrorism efforts and outlined the administration’s stabilization strategy for recently secured areas, emphasizing the importance of reconstruction, service delivery, and community resilience.
Amb. King praised Puntland’s leadership in ensuring security and fostering democratic governance, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s continued support for Somalia’s security sector, political inclusivity, and development agenda.
