The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, and Souef Mohamed El-Amine, head of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), met in Mogadishu to discuss the ongoing security transition in Somalia.
Their Friday discussions centered on the critical need for support to the Somali security forces as ATMIS continues its phased withdrawal along with the transition to the new mission, African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
They also emphasized the importance of sustained and predictable funding to ensure the success of AUSSOM and continued stability in Somalia.
