Dr. Abdisalam Abdirahman Mohamed, Director General of the Somalia National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS), is participating in the 3rd High-Level Labour Migration Advisory Group (LMAG) meeting in Mombasa, Kenya.
This ministerial-level forum, hosted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) under the Better Regional Migration Management (BRMM II) programme, brings together labour ministers from Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan, alongside regional statistical leaders and social sector partners.
The gathering underscores the role of migration data in shaping fair and inclusive labour mobility policies throughout East and the Horn of Africa. The BRMM programme aims to strengthen the capacities of countries in the region to govern labour migration by using evidence-based policies, enhancing migrant workers’ qualifications and skills, and actively engaging social partners.
Dr. Mohamed’s participation aligns with his commitment to enhancing Somalia’s statistical framework and promoting data-driven governance. Appointed in November 2024, he brings a wealth of expertise to the role, with a PhD in Economics and previous experience as an economic advisor to the President of Somalia and the Ministry of Finance.
