Director General of Somalia’s Immigration Directorate Survives Assassination Attempt

The Director General of Somalia’s Immigration and Naturalization Directorate survived an assassination attempt in Mogadishu on the night of October 20.

Reports from the nation’s capital indicate that Director General Mohamed Aden Koofi survived an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion targeting his vehicle.

Security agents confirm that the incident took place near Mogadishu’s busy KM-5 Junction.

The junction acts as the link between the Aden Adde International Airport and the Presidential Palace known as Villa Somalia.

Koofi’s vehicle was outside the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters.

The IED attack was the latest in a series of raids targeting senior government officials and military officers in the country by extremists.
