Reports from Dhusamareb say that the National Consultative Conference ended without any deal after leaders failed to agree on how to manage Gedo elections.
Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) leaders have been meeting in the Galmudug State capital since February 1.
They held discussions designed to find solutions for the ongoing electoral impasse.
On Friday, the conference ended without any deal in place.
Apparently, sources claimed that the FGS and FMS leaders could not agree on the best way of managing the election of 16 Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Gedo region.
President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland proposed restoration of the region to his administration.
He also asked his fellow leaders to support the appointment of an electoral committee by his administration to oversee the Gedo elections.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of FGS rejected Madobe’s proposals thus causing the conference to end in failure.
