Djibouti now has the freedom to send its officers to join the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Police Unit.
This follows a decision by the organization to add Djibouti to the list of ATMIS police-contributing countries.
Several countries have been deploying their officers to ATMIS Police Unit over the years.
These include Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia.
Djibouti is now set to be the seventh country to join the ATMIS police contributing countries following the announcement made on September 15.
ATMIS police officers are divided into two categories. The first is the Individual Police Officers (IPOs) while the other category features Formed Police Units (FPUs).
IPOs are from all over Africa.
On the other hand, FPUs are from seven countries that now include Djibouti.
