Djibouti has offered President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland a red carpet welcome after he landed in the country on December 23.
Bihi is in Djibouti at the invitation of President Ismail Omar Guelleh.
His official tour of Djibouti takes place two days after the country hosted the Extraordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The plane carrying President Bihi landed at the Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport on Wednesday morning.
It is not yet clear what the two leaders plan to discuss.
However, Bihi arrives in Djibouti a few days after successfully touring Kenya where he met President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga among other leaders.
Bihi’s visit to Kenya destroyed whatever diplomatic relations Somalia had with its East African neighbor.
