President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti has sent a message of congratulations to the newly-elected President of Somalia.
Guelleh congratulated Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who emerged victorious in the presidential elections held on May 15.
Mohamud won after three rounds of voting.
Guelleh’s congratulatory messages arrived on Monday.
In his message, President Guelleh said, “Mohamud’s election as the President of Somalia is a testament to the resilience of the institutions in the country.”
He called Mohamud’s election as the 10th President of Somalia a “historic moment” for all Somalis.
