Dozens of Al-Shabaab Militants Killed Near Mogadishu

Somali National Army (SNA) forces killed dozens of Al-Shabaab extremists during a military operation conducted near Mogadishu.

Sources from the police said that the operation took place on Wednesday, October 14.

A police spokesperson, Sadik Adan, confirmed that the SNA soldiers killed 61 members of the Al-Qaeda linked group.

He further confirmed that the operation was necessary after Al-Shabaab extremists carried out a series of deadly attacks in the region, especially around Afgoye Town.

Moreover, this week’s incident involved a heavy gunfight that also caused the death of 18 SNA soldiers, including a senior military officer.

Sadik confirmed that the gunfight started when Al-Shabaab extremists accosted SNA officers who were on a patrol in the town.
