Seville, Spain – A high-level Somali government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama participated in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development held in Seville, Spain.
The event brought together global leaders, development partners, and financial institutions to explore innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable development.
During the Plenary Session, Deputy PM Jama presented Somalia’s strategic development priorities, highlighting the country’s ongoing efforts to rebuild its economy, strengthen public institutions, and enhance social resilience.
He emphasized Somalia’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development through transparent governance, inclusive growth, and international cooperation.
“Somalia is ready to be a model for transformative environmental investment in Africa,” he stated, noting the country’s vulnerability to climate shocks and the urgent need for climate-aligned financing.
Deputy Prime Minister Jama called for genuine partnerships with international donors and the private sector, urging for increased support in implementing Somalia’s national development plan, green transition strategy, and climate adaptation initiatives.
The Somali delegation also held bilateral meetings with multilateral agencies and financial institutions on the sidelines of the conference, focusing on mobilizing resources for key sectors such as energy, agriculture, education, and infrastructure.
The Seville conference served as a crucial platform for Somalia to reinforce its vision for a self-reliant and climate-resilient future, as the nation continues to emerge from decades of conflict toward peace, stability, and sustainable growth.
