Puntlant security officers have arrested a man suspected of being the official driver of ISIS Commander in Somalia.
The arrest, which took place on Sunday, was carried out by Puntland Special Forces.
He was arrested during an operation that also netted several ISIS fighters in a move that could herald the changing face of the war against terror in the region.
According to the Police Commander of Bari Region, Hussein Ali Mohamud, the person arrested is suspected to be the driver of Abdulkadir Mumin, ISIS Senior Commander in Somalia.
The operation that netted all these ISIS fighters was carried out in Dooha-Gabin, Toga Canjeel, Toga Jaceyl, and Isku Shuban.
Mohamud said that Special Forces in Puntland also seized weapons and armored vehicles. He hailed the seizure of weapons as a significant move in fighting terrorists in the peaceful region.
