Drought Could Continue in Somalia to the End of the Year

The ongoing drought in Somalia could continue to the end of the year.

The World Food Programme (WFP) VAM broke this news on Thursday, June 23 while issuing its latest report.

According to the United Nations’ WFP VAM, Somalia has already faced four consecutive droughts.

The global body believes that the East African nation is in line for another drought since the October-December rains appear likely to fail yet again.

Consequently, the organization has urged Somalis to prepare for famine.

Moreover, WFP VAM believes that the country’s local food systems are likely to collapse thus worsening the situation.
