Drought Displaced Close to 100,000 People in Somalia in August

The ongoing drought in Somalia displaced close to 100,000 people in the country in August 2022.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed this heartbreaking news on October 6.

According to OCHA’s latest statistics, this represents an 18 percent increase from the numbers reported a month earlier in July.

Consequently, OCHA continues to urge Somalia’s partners to step up humanitarian assistance before the situation worsens.

OCHA also mentioned that more resources are required to alleviate the crisis in different parts of the nation.
