DusitD2 Attack Financed Through Somali and Kenyan Banks, Says Ruto

Nairobi – President William Ruto has revealed that the 2019 DusitD2 terror attack in Nairobi, which left 21 people dead, was funded through banking channels spanning Kenya, Somalia, and South Africa.

Speaking on the transnational nature of organized crime, President Ruto emphasized that the attackers exploited both local and international financial systems to move funds.

The disclosure highlights the growing complexity of terrorism financing networks in the region.

The President called for stronger regional collaboration and tighter financial oversight to counter the evolving threats posed by such networks.
