The European Union (EU) has launched a project worth €4.5 million for the newly liberated places in Somalia.
EU announced that the funds would help stabilize areas the Somali government has liberated from the control of Al-Shabaab.
The project would run in four Federal Member States (FMS).
These are Galmudug, HirShabelle, Southwest, and Jubbaland.
Tiina Intelmann, the EU Representative to Somalia, launched the project in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
Amb. Intelmann was with several other government and foreign officials during the launch.
These included Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who is the Minister of Interior, Federal, and Reconciliation in the Somali government.
The funds are for the Rapid Nationwide Stabilization Project.
