EASF Technical Meetings Conclude Successfully in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia – The technical sessions of the 34th Policy Organs Meetings of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) concluded on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in regional security cooperation. This year’s meetings are being hosted in Mogadishu for the first time, highlighting Somalia’s growing leadership within regional peace and security frameworks.

Over the course of several days, technical teams from EASF member states engaged in comprehensive discussions focused on strengthening joint defense initiatives, institutional development, and regional preparedness for emerging security challenges. Key themes included interoperability, operational readiness, and sustainable peacekeeping strategies.

The culmination of the technical meetings sets the stage for the Ministerial-level session scheduled for July 19. Defence Ministers from EASF member countries are expected to review and adopt key recommendations that emerged from the technical deliberations, shaping the bloc’s future direction.

Somalia’s hosting of the high-level gathering reflects both its commitment to regional stability and the trust placed in its leadership by EASF partners. The event also underscores ongoing efforts to consolidate peace and strengthen defense frameworks across Eastern Africa.
