Somalia’s Ministry of Education has rejected the certificates issued by the Puntland administration to students who sat the recently concluded regional exams.
Abdullahi Godah Barre, the Minister of Education, once again refused to acknowledge the certificates from Puntland.
He insisted that the ministry would only recognize certificates issued to students who sat the standardized national exams.
Puntland was the only state whose students sat for regional non-standardized examinations.
On Friday, Barre urged politicians from Puntland to report to the ministry to get the standardized exams for students sitting the Class 8 and Form 4 examinations.
Further, he expressed dismay at the fact that students in Puntland would not receive government-issued certified diplomas and certificates.
Puntland has never subscribed to the standardized examinations since 2003.
