Egeh Briefs Kuwaiti Counterpart on Somalia’s Ongoing Economic Reforms

Somalia’s Finance Minister, Bihi Iman Egeh, met with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Noora Sulaiman Salem Al-Fassam, in Kuwait to discuss Somalia’s ongoing economic reforms and explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration in trade and investment.

This meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen economic ties and support mutual growth.

While specific details of their discussions have not been publicly disclosed, this engagement aligns with Somalia’s recent efforts to enhance regional economic partnerships.

Notably, in January 2025, Somalia’s Investment Promotion Office (SOMINVEST) Director, Mohamed Dubo, met with Mohammed Mulla Yaqoub, Director of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), to bolster institutional and bilateral investment collaboration.

Additionally, in April 2022, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signed a debt relief agreement with Somalia under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative, facilitating the resumption of bilateral relations after nearly three decades of interruption.

These developments reflect a shared commitment to fostering economic cooperation and sustainable development between Somalia and Kuwait.
