Egypt Air announced that it would launch direct flights between Cairo and Mogadishu from July 11.
The Egyptian carrier made the announcement on Sunday.
In making the announcement, Egypt Air declared that the new route would enhance connectivity and economic ties between the two nations.
Egypt Air will fly to the Somali capital twice a week.
Sources within the firm added that the Cairo-Mogadishu flights are a reflection of the broader strategy Egypt developed of improving air connectivity on the African continent.
