Souef Mohamed El-Amine concluded his 2-day visit to the regional state of HirShabelle on Friday.
During his tour, the Special Representative of the Chairman of the African Union Commission (SRCC) held discussions with HirShabelle’s President Ali Hussein Gudlawe.
El-Amine also spared time for Mayor Osman Mohamed Muqtar Barey of Jowhar.
Representatives of the local civil society and youth groups also briefed El-Amine on their activities in the region.
They discussed the third phase of the ongoing drawdown of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops.
Post-ATMIS security plans as well as humanitarian assistance featured prominently in the talks that El-Amine held with various leaders and stakeholders.
