Electoral observers have started arriving in Puntland ahead of the historic local government elections on October 25.
Some of the observers are from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Several are from regional states. Somalia’s international partners have also sent their teams to Puntland.
Scholars, activists, and representatives from civil society groups are well presented too.
Puntland will be holding elections in Eyl, Ufeyn, and Qardho districts on Monday.
The elections are historic, as Puntland becomes the first regional state to hold one-person-one-vote (1P1V) polls in the East African nation.
