Four Al-Shabaab militants were killed during a confrontation with Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers on October 20 in Bakool.
Reports from the region indicate that several others received injuries during the skirmishes.
SNA soldiers attacked the militants who had been responsible for destroying donkey-led carts that were transporting foodstuff.
Mohamed Moalim Yusuf, the District Commissioner of Wajid, confirmed the incident to the media.
DC Yusuf stated that the military operation against the militants was designed to protect the owners of the food transportation business from incurring more losses.
According to him, the operation was also necessary to protect the food.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has strongly condemned the action by the militants too.
