Elite Somali forces have been deployed to frontline areas to participate in the fight against Al-Shabaab militants.
Information from Mogadishu mentioned the presence of elite military personnel in central Somalia where the second phase of counterterrorism operations are ongoing.
Currently, the government has deployed 1,500 elite troops to central Somalia.
A larger percentage of the forces is expected to be based in east Galgadud, which recently witnessed a retreat by the army.
