The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) has confirmed killing more than 800 Al-Shabaab militants.
Major General Tesfaye Ayalew, Head of Deployment at ENDF, confirmed this to the press on Saturday, August 6.
Maj. Gen. Ayalew, who also doubles as the Acting Security Command Post Coordinator, said ENDF personnel killed the militants who tried invading Eastern Ethiopia recently.
Al-Shabaab tried to force their way into the eastern part of Ethiopia on July 21, 2022.
However, a joint operation between ENDF and the regional forces thwarted the attempts by the militants.
Twenty-four leaders of the militant group were among those that ENDF soldiers killed.
