The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has launched solar electrification projects for rural areas in Somaliland.
It held an investiture function at Hotel Mansoor in Hargeisa.
The projects are part of the ongoing Somaliland Electricity Access Project (SEAP) and the Somaliland Off-Grid Solar Grant Facility.
World Bank has provided funding for the project while the energy ministry facilitates it with assistance from Dahabshil Bank.
Jama Mohamoud Egal, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, launched the workshop on Sunday, November 15.
Egal said that the project was a pilot scheme that the administration of President Muse Bihi Abdi was carrying out in the country for the first time.
