Ethiopia has offered 200 scholarships to students from Somaliland, a move that reflects the growing cooperation between the two regions.
The initiative is part of Ethiopia’s broader effort to strengthen educational ties with its neighboring regions and support capacity building in Somaliland.
These scholarships are likely aimed at various academic fields, providing opportunities for Somaliland students to pursue higher education in Ethiopia, thus enhancing their skills and contributing to their region’s development.
Ethiopia and Somaliland currently enjoy superb diplomatic ties.
Early this year, they signed a seaport access agreement that allows Ethiopia to recognize Somaliland as an independent nation.
On its part, Ethiopia would access over 20kms of Somaliland’s seaport directly.
