Ethiopia will not access the Red Sea Port directly.
Somalia denied Ethiopia’s recent request for direct access to the port.
Recently, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia made the request on behalf of his government.
In his request, the Prime Minister stated that granting his country such access could prevent future conflicts with neighboring nations.
Ethiopia once enjoyed such access.
However, it lost it following the decision by Eritrea to break away and embark on the journey of self-rule in 1993.
“Our territorial integrity and sovereignty remain sacrosanct, enshrined in the constitution, and not the subject of any discussion,” said Ali Omar.
He is the State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
