EU Ambassador to Support Hargeysa Cultural Center’s Tourist Guide Training

Nicolas Berlanga, the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Somalia, has pledged to support the tourist guide training offered by Hargeysa Cultural Center.

The cultural center has organized a training, which is scheduled to start from September 5, for individuals interested in working as tourist guides.

On Saturday, the cultural center announced that its training would enlighten participants on “the site of Laasgeel cave paintings.”

The cave paintings are located on the outskirts of Hargeisa, Somaliland’s capital.

On his part, Berlanga welcomed the training. He said one of the reasons for supporting it is the opportunity offered to “preserve the local heritage.”

Furthermore, Berlanga cited the increased opportunities the training would provide to youths to find gainful employment and enjoy economic development.

Consequently, he vowed to support the initiative.

Hargeysa Cultural Center was opened in August 2014 and boasts of a library that holds more than 15,000 titles from different authors.
