The European Union (EU) has condemned the decision by Somalia’s Federal Parliament to pass the vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.
On Saturday, parliament kicked Khaire out of office after 170 Members of Parliament (MPs) passed the motion.
According to the EU, the move is a “setback” to all the gains that Somalia has made over the years in the democratization process and political stability.
Furthermore, a statement released by the EU calls the move a “serious disrespect” of Somalia’s constitutional foundations.
EU says that it has been investing in the Horn of Africa country’s constitutional foundations for several years.
