The European Union (EU) Council has donated military equipment worth €1 million to Somalia.
The EU announced the donation on Tuesday.
Somalia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the donation.
“We welcome the decision by the EU to provide €1 million in military equipment to the country,” said the ministry in a statement.
The donation of the funds was possible through the European Peace Facility (EPF).
According to the ministry, the equipment would improve Somalia’s lethal force capabilities.
“The equipment would boost the training and equipping of the military at the General Dhagabadan Training Center,” added the ministry in its statement.
