The European Union (EU) insists that it would continue supporting Somalia in the latter’s row with Ethiopia.
Somalia and Ethiopia are at loggerheads after the latter signed a controversial deal with Somaliland on New Year’s Day.
The deal allows Ethiopia to control 20kms of Somaliland coastline.
Ethiopia then recognizes Somaliland as an independent nation.
On Thursday, Dr. Riina Kionka said that the EU would supports Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity.
Dr. Kionka was speaking at the extraordinary summit convened by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in Kampala.
She delivered a passionate speech in support of Somalia.
Ethiopia failed to send representatives to the summit.
